For most people, grief symptoms ease over time. However, for some people, grief can become prolonged and interfere with daily life. This is called prolonged grief disorder.

Symptoms
  • Intense sadness, anger, guilt, and despair

  • Feelings of shock and numbness

  • Denial and anger

  • Separation anxiety

  • Obsessive dwelling on the past

  • Apprehension about the future

Coping with grief
  • Practicing self-care, such as eating regularly, exercising, and getting enough sleep

  • Talking to someone about your feelings

  • Re-engaging in activities you've avoided

  • Setting and working towards personal goals
